Week in review

Without boring y’all with the details of my week at work, I’ll give you some of the highlights–mostly from my weekend.

LONG BEACH, LONG ISLAND, NY

My best friend and I were on the hunt for a day at the beach, and I am so glad we took the trip to Long Island. We were originally going to settle (sorry) for Coney Island, but the train ride out to Long Beach was super easy, and super rewarding. Despite coming home and finding a horrifying amount of seaweed I found in my bathing suit, the weather was perfect all day, the beach was clean, and the water was way refreshing. Also, for those of you who know me, be proud that I actually swam in an open body of water. Wahoo for irrational phobias!

HAZORE BRAND LAUNCH IN BROOKLYN

On Saturday evening, after our trip to the beach, my best friend and I got gussied up and headed off to Brooklyn. She works in fashion PR, so she was invited to a brand launch for Hazore, this adorable Brooklyn based brand that looks like something right out of an Urban Outfitters catalog. The event was held in this really rustic looking yoga studio, which was awesome, and they were serving dragon’s blood punch, which was delicious. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday night!

IT’S (NOT) ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA

On Sunday we decided to take a day trip to Philadelphia, which ended up being quite the adventure. At 5 a.m. we hopped out of bed and headed to our bus. After a short two hour trip–where we were the only two yapping away and too excited to sleep–we made it! We visited the Liberty Bell early, which was great because there was no line; got a tour of Independence Hall (hello, 8th grade American History class); hung out in Love Park; visited the PMA (Rocky) steps, and yes, ran up some of them; and ate some cheesesteak in South Philly. I really wanted to visit the UPenn campus, but due to the torrential downpour that hit us around 3 p.m., we were far too soaked, and the rain was way too aggressive to do much of anything. So, go us for hopping out of bed so early because we really got things done in the morning! I would definitely like to go back, and hopefully with a little bit more sunshine.
