Here it is, my first blog post. I’ve mostly been using this site to share my published blurbs and articles, but why not share a bit more about myself?
I’m living in NYC for the summer interning with Nylon Magazine and serving as a paralegal at a law firm down on Wall Street. Despite being busy as ever, I make some time for fun, so I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been up to over the past month and a half! My apologies for the ridiculous size of this post. In the future, I plan on updating more often about my day-to-day and weekend adventures, but this will just be a wrap-up. No use in waiting to post old news!
This isn’t anywhere near all that I’ve been up to, but here are the highlights…
INTERNING AT NYLON
Not surprisingly, I was completely intimidated walking into the Nylon office for the first time; I do my fair share of lurking fashion blogs, but it would be a stretch to call myself a fashionista. However, my experience in the office has been super rewarding and comfortable. I’ve had the opportunity to go to events, like seeing Avril Lavigne perform six feet away from me (hello, 6th grade me freaking out), interview a personal role model (Iggy Azalea) and become more familiar than ever with the skills of fact-checking, transcribing and pitching. I could write an essay on my days at Nylon, but maybe that’s better left for the end of the summer!

LEGAL LADY – WORKING ON WALL ST.

While I’m enjoying my time with the magazine industry, I’d love to explore a career in law, and interning/being a paralegal/helping out at a law firm down on Wall Street this summer has given me an awesome look into the world of law. I’ve been invited to sit in on depositions and have had a number of documents pass through my hands. Also, working on Wall Street is nothing like the movie, so that’s been a huge relief.

SLEEP NO MORE
Believe me, I haven’t slept since. I’ve already attended Sleep No More twice, and I hope to another two times before I leave the city at the end of the summer. However, a little blurb isn’t nearly enough to summarize my obsession. Proper post to come!

TO DO LIST
So, despite all the fun I’ve been having, there are still so many things left to do in my short time here! Any suggestions?
